Going to a new dentist can be anxiety producing but my experience at Dr Barry’s office was superb.  I don’t have dental insurance.  I shared what my annual costs had been at my prior dentist’s office that had closed.  They have an annual package that can be purchased which includes the usual x-rays, exam, two cleanings plus plus.    the cost was within 20.00 of prior care.  I found everyone to be very professional. Dr Barry did a thorough review of my history and current dental health status.  He didn’t try selling me extras nor give me a 2 page list of dental care needs as I’d been given by several HMO docs in past.  Thank you also to Vanessa, Karen, Debbie and Kristyn for coordinating my care.  I’ll be certain to share on our local Nextdoor where I first learned of your practice. I love Dr. Barry! He’s always very happy to see you. The facility is  very clean and modern. It makes you feel more confident that you are  being taken care of while you are there. I never had to wait very long  in the waiting area which is also nice. I had a crown and a few cavities  that he took care of without pain!My only issue is that he isn’t covered by my current health insurance plan :( More

I love Dr. Ron Barry and everyone working in the office. I went there for a cleaning and initial evaluation. I have had some bad experiences with dentists in the past so I am hesitant to trust new ones. I 150% trust Ron and his team. They are all so kind, wonderful and helpful. During the initial evaluation Dr. Barry, not someone else, thoroughly reviewed with me all the x-rays and 3D graphing (super cool) of my teeth mouth and jaw. So I could see exactly what he was seeing as he explained everything. This made the experience really comforting and allowed me to ask questions as we went through everything. I had lots of questions and Ron was super happy to answer anything I asked. It was a great learning experience and made you feel very comfortable. When he gets the tools in your mouth his assistant is wonderful and right there the whole time. They are extremely cognizant of the patient and ensuring you are comfortable. The work is also amazing, I have a chipped front tooth and they capped it without a problem, and it looks fantastic and feels great. I had to return to fix a little problem with the cap 5 months after they did it. Ron took care of it in 5 min and sent me on my way without charging anything. I would recommend anyone who might not like the dentist to try out Dr Barry! More

The new equipment made getting x-rays a lot easier than I have ever had in the past. I received a very thorough examination. It was a very low key experience. Dr. McDonald identified some work that needed to be performed. He showed me the results of the x-rays and explained the work that needed to be performed in terms I could understand. He stated that, considering how long I had been away from a dentists office, I was in pretty good shape. He recommended certain things that needed to be done sooner than later, and other things that he would monitor for potential future procedures. I know that some dentists just try to "drill, fill, and bill", so this was very comforting. Dr. McDonald's staff was also very knowledgeable and provided me up front pricing for all of the recommended work. More

Dr. Ron Barry has been my dentist for over 18 years. My trust and respect for Dr. Barry’s entire team are off the charts. So much so, after relocating to San Francisco 8 years ago, I will fly to San Diego at least twice a year just to get my teeth cleaned (by Kristen.) That’s how much I trust this dental practice. Fortunately for me, be it good genetics or a diligent flosser, I’ve not had any major issues with my teeth except one. About 10 years ago Dr. Barry had to give me a root canal on a lower right tooth. I visited a dental surgeon recommended by Dr. Barry who implanted a post, at which point I returned to Dr. Barry who capped it with a porcelain crown. I was told then my crown would likely last around 5+ years and then may need to be replaced. Here we are 10 years later and everything looks and feels great. No need to replace the crown at this point, and my gums look healthy. This speaks volumes to the quality of Dr. Barry’s work!! Worth every airfare, hotel cost, and rental car fee to receive the best dental service. Oh, I forgot to mention, Dr. Barry and his team saw me through 3 years of braces. Though it was my orthodontist who did all the work, Chrissy cleaned my teeth and made sure I was appropriately caring for my gums between orthodontist appointments. Forever grateful. More

Dr. Barry and his staff run a modern, clean, and efficient practice using the latest technologies to assist them in evaluating and caring for their patients. As a new patient I had a full set of digital x-rays taken, followed by possibly my most thorough oral exam ever including a complete explanation of the findings by Dr. Barry, and finally my teeth were expertly cleaned by the hygienist Kristen. During the exam I felt like I had the full attention of Dr. Barry as he considered my previous dental history and made his recommendations. Dr. Barry is a phenomenal dentist! Seriously, he makes it *enjoyable* to visit the dentist! Who knew that was even possible? He does a superb job and never rushes through explaining what he sees. He has some cool software that creates a personalized 3-D model of your mouth and he uses a tiny camera to show you close-ups of your teeth in the far back. Everyone always seems to be in good spirits and having a fun time. I cannot recommend Dr. Barry and the staff here enough! More

I transferred here from Dr. McDonald's Vista office, and this was my first visit to the Del Mar office. Right when I arrived, they greeted me by first name and let me know they already had my records from the other office (I had made the appt months ago, and was so impressed that they immediately knew who I was when I came in, and that I was transferring from another office). Excellent professional dental treatment! My dentist of many years was retiring and I needed to find a new dentist. It was not easy. Dr. Barry and his staff are absolutely fantastic!!  I have been going to them for years - and they are consistently marvelous!  Dr. Barry is a neat guy who lightens up the mood and makes people feel comfortable around him..... In addition, they know I have dental-anxiety (doesn't everyone?) and issues with gag-reflex and they always take their time to explain to me what they're going to do next, and take every precaution - I don't even have to remind anyone!  Recently I have a more serious problem needing a surgeon, and Dr. Barry has coordinated with an oral surgeon and met with him several times to work out a way to make this happen with minimal issues (including involvement of a company in Germany that fabricates custom components to allow a precise extraction).  Dr. Barry is a real "technology-lover" who has the latest equipment - he makes a crown in-house from digital images so you can avoid that old method of a dental tray with goop in your mouth and waiting 3 weeks to send out for a crown to be made.  He makes the crown in-office in about 30 minutes with an automated robotic machining tool, then polishes and installs it on the spot - certainly state of the art and minimal issue for the patient! I recommend Dr. Barry's office without reservation - they are just plain good in what they do!! More

I have gone to Dr. Barry for years and would highly recommend him to others. He is always up-to-date on the latest techniques and is conservative in suggesting what work needs to be done, so I never feel that he is recommending expensive work that isn't necessary. He has a great personality and his office team is friendly, helpful, and professional. I go to Chrissy for my dental cleanings and would recommend her equally.My two sons went to Dr. Barry during high school and also liked Dr. Barry as their dentist, so he would get along well with any teenagers. I love Dr. Barry! He's always very happy to see you. The facility is very clean and modern. It makes you feel more confident that you are being taken care of while you are there. I never had to wait very long in the waiting area which is also nice. I had a crown and a few cavities that he took care of without pain! My only issue is that he isn't covered by my current health insurance plan :( More

Awesome Doc. Cool guy, staff friendly and down to earth. Reasonable pricing and good with insurance handling. They get you in and out of there lickity split. Cool thing about this place is he can whip up a Porcelain On-lay and bang it on your sorry broken tooth remnant in like 10 minutes! One visit only. Mills the little bugger right there in the office. Highly recommended if you need a little work on the choppers so you can keep on Yelpin! The guy knows the Toof biz. More
